Is Wearing Natural Hair Professional?

As I am sitting here going through my usual morning routine, I am watching the “Today Show.” It does my heart good to see that Tamron is finally embracing her natural hair. She has been natural for awhile but struggled with the idea of wearing her natural hair to work.

is wearing natural hair in the workplace professional

I’m looking at the show this morning and not only is she rocking her TWA (teeny weeny afro), she is hosting a segment on natural hair care.

For so long, people thought natural hair was unprofessional. That has always bothered me. My personal belief is that you can totally rock natural curls, a fro, or dreads while being professional.

Natural hair does not me unkept or dirty. I know plenty of people with gorgeous well-maintained locks. I think society is finally starting to get away from those stereotypes and beliefs of what natural hair means.

As you can see, I wore my fro and puff proudly before texlaxing. I never had an issue with anyone say something to me and at that time I worked in a medical facility.

Pardon the no makeup but here is a little work time selfie

We have a ways to go but I love seeing women embrace their hair instead of hiding their natural hair in the workplace.

To think natural hair, especially dreadlocks, were taboo in general but forbidden and frowned upon in the workplace.

Natural all the way for summer time and I have wavy/curly with a bit of frizz to it, but I just wash, put gel in it, put it up in a bun and go during this time of the year. So much easier then winter when I dry and straighten it, but still can’t help, but embrace this look during this time of the year now 🙂

I think a ponytail is the greatest thing ever created. LOL! Summer is so much easier on hair and styling it…at least for me.
