Keeping a hair journal is a very important tool during your hair journey. Some may wonder about the benefits of keeping a hair journey.Or, if it is even necessary. Having a journal is absolutely important and beneficial. Let’s get into why.
Changing Products: If you are like me and change your products on a regular basis, the best thing to do is to keep a journal noting the products and techniques you used. I made the mistake of forgetting to write down what I used on my hair after my co-wash the other day and now I’m paying for it. Whatever I used was perfect for my hair. My braid out is still so moisturized and defined from that last co-wash that I haven’t washed yet.
If you have any issues with shedding, breakage, or dryness, keeping a hair journal will allow you to look back and determine the cause of the issue. You can connect the dots and create a plan to fix the issue.
Product Organization: Having a hair journal will allow you to keep up with the product that you have in your stash. There is nothing worse than buying something and realizing once you get home you already own that product.
Determining Holy Grail Products: Much like keeping track of the products you use weekly. A hair journal will help you find your holy grail of hair products. After you take the time to look back through your notes on your wash days, you can identify products that worked the best. This is beneficial to locking down your regimen and tried and true products.
At the very least, a journal will be a way of learning what your hair does and doesn’t like. It will save you money and frustration in the long run. Trust me! If it wasn’t for this blog or my journal I don’t think I would have made as much progress. My journal has also allowed me to track my results from using growth aids and supplements. I now know what supplements and growth aid mixes work best for my hair.
A hair journal is very useful and I should say essential to your healthy hair journey. I can’t imagine how difficult my journey would’ve been had I not has a journal
Do you have a hair journal? If so, what info do you normally put in your journal?
