Texlax Hair New Growth | 11.5 Weeks Post Texlax

My original plan was to stretch my texlax to 16 weeks, but my new growth is too thick to continue stretching. I’m 11.5 weeks post texlax and my hair’s new growth looks thicker than my 16-week new growth. Since I don’t texlax before 12 weeks, I have to hold off a few more days. If I can make my hair more manageable, I will texlax next weekend. That will make me more comfortable with not making it to 16 weeks post.

Because I’m unsure of my hair plans, I started preparing my hair to texlax just in case I change my mind and texlax now instead of waiting. I have a process that I complete a week prior to texlaxing  to ensure the best experience possible with the least amount of breakage or drama. Texlaxing breaks down the protein bonds in hair, so this is my way of promoting the health of my hair post texlax. The idea is to start with strong healthy hair. If I feel that my hair needs additional moisture or protein, I postpone the texlaxing. However, my hair is currently healthy and I simply need to do my basic pre-texlax protein process.

If you would like to see my full and up-to-date texlax process, please check out my texlax process series.

I began the pre-texlax process with a clarifying shampoo on Fri. Then I detangled with V05 Moisture Milk and conditioned with Suave Almond and Shea Butter Conditioner…missed that stuff. My tangles and frizz melted when I used the Suave conditioner. I was supposed to do a hard protein today but I was working on my daughter’s hair. I will do an Aphogee two step tomorrow. This is my protein treatment of choice prior to my texlax. Again, I add this step to minimize breakage by adding strength.

This entire process was a little difficult because of the thickness of my 11.5 weeks post texlax new growth. Hey, I gotta do what I gotta do. If I don’t, I’m sure Cherrelle (my hair) will act a fool!

How do you prepare your hair to relax or texlax? Do you include a protein treatment? If this was helpful to you, please share with your friends. Be sure to subscribe to my weekly newsletter to stay up-to-date with my latest hair care updates and tips.

My hair shrinks so bad it isn't funny. I go from BSL to SL as soon as my hair get wet.
