It’s time for my two-month hair update! Cherrelle and I haven’t had any serious fights. More importantly, she has not taken to writing any recent blog post putting me on blast about any type of true neglect. I will say she is a tad angry with me about all of the manipulation that I have been doing the last few days to get her ready for updated pictures. I had to tell her this can’t be a hair blog without hair pics.
Let catch up!
I am currently 15 weeks 3 days post and my last texlax was December 31, 2013. My plan is to texlax on September 27th for my birthday. That would give me another 23 weeks on this stretch. I am not sure I will actually make it that long but we shall see. The longest I have stretched was 26 weeks.
Length Check and Growth
The last time I trimmed my ends and did a length check was in February. That did mess me up a bit and put me off schedule. I thought I texlaxed and trimmed around the same time but it turns out I did not trim until February. Now, my next scheduled trim is in the middle of May, not March as I originally planned.
I noticed that I have about an inch of growth from February. I did notice the sides of my “V” are catching up with the ends. I thought I was going to have to trim my ends as it grew out to have a blunt hemline but my hemline is now becoming even on its own.
After I took the pic, I went to moisturize and seal before putting my hair up in a baggy but ended up trimming about ½” to ¾”, depending on the section. Yes, I know I was told to stay the heck away from the shears after my last lopsided hair-trimming episode. I figured no one would notice so what the heck. LOL! As I mentioned above, my next scheduled trim is in May and I am still going to do a thorough trim at that time. This was just to hold me over because I got the hair-cutting itch. LOL!
Breakage
Everything was going along well in the breakage department. I had a few broken ends here and there but nothing to write about. I knew the breakage I was seeing was due to a lack of moisture and I hopped right on that to knock it out. The extra steaming and deep conditioning gave me the moisture boost I needed.
Unfortunately, Cherrelle is not responding well to all of the manipulation I have done to her this week. I will say it is totally my fault. I was rushing trying to get things done and I did not take the time needed to go through each step without causing any damage. The biggest issue was the blow-drying and additional combing. I completely relied on the comb attachment instead of using the tension method to blow dry. As for combing, I am horrible at gently combing my hair, which is part of the reason why I try to finger combing as much as possible. I can feel exactly what I am doing and make adjustments.
For my bad behavior, I have paid the price in breakage. It has not been enough to cause a serious scare but it has been enough to make me curse. Yes, I really did just say that…keeping it real. Now, I have my hair in a baggying and I have apologized to her for the abuse this week. I think she forgave me. LOL!
Hair Plan
The plan is to stick with my normal regimen and the things I have been doing to keep my moisture levels up. I am going to post an updated regimen that was shortened. I promise I will not trim again until sometime around May 16th.
I am going to back off the buns for a bit and do more wigging. I am wigging now to wear my hair out this summer. I do not plan on wearing wigs this summer as I have previously. This year, wigs will be more of an “in case of emergency, wig it.” I am also going to add in braids and Havana twists to make it to June.
Goal
My goal is to get as much growth as possible between now and June because I plan to swing my hair the entire summer. I am hoping Cherrelle will tolerate a summer of wash-n-go. I might be asking too much but it is worth a try. I have to play it by ear and base it on how my new growth is behaving.
