Wash Day

My dedication to my healthy hair journey is commendable…if I do say so myself! Yes, my title is correct. It was two days, wash day 2-29 to 2-30. This means, I started on Wed and finished on Thurs. That seems to be how it works for me now that my hair is longer. I definitely need to find a better way to shorten my hair wash day experience.

Here are my wash day steps:

Pre-poo:

I used an oil mix of red palm, sunflower, safflower, hemp, homemade amla, and brahmi oil. Next, I sat under the dryer for a little over 45 mins, by accident. I was trying to do a HOT. I only meant to be under for 15, but I was reading for my test tomorrow and lost track of time. I let the plastic caps (two to cover all of my hair) stay on for a few hours because I had a few things to do.

Shampoo:

I used a Shikakai shampoo bar. It’s sulfate-free, of course, and gentle. It doesn’t strip my hair but does a great job with cleansing.

1st Condition:

I conditioned with an Ayurvedic gloss. This was my first time trying a gloss. I thought it might be easier to rinse out. (Side Note (S/N): a gloss is mixing Ayurvedic powder(s) with conditioner) I mixed a re-moisturizer I found at Sally’s with my powders (rose, brahmi, amla, lemon, orange, tusli, and fenugreek). I had to make two batches because I was a little heavy-handed with my application using the first batch. I covered my hair with the same two plastic caps I used for the pre-poo and let it sit while I worked on my paper.

Rinse:

I rinsed my hair out until it ran clear. S/N: I use a handheld showerhead with adjustable settings that make rinsing so much easier. It is also a filtered shower head ( link the one here) to help prevent mineral build-up and it helps with my eczema.

2nd– Deep Condition

I DC’d with Kerapro Intensive Treatment for dry hair. (Review coming soon. This was my first time using the product and I didn’t mix it with anything to give it an honest try.) I left it on for an hour.

Hair Styling:

I’m wearing a quick bun to class tonight because I won’t have time to braid my hair to put it under my wig.

Tonight I’m going to oil my scalp with my sulfur mix and baggy.
