It’s protective style time! I’ve been at a crossroads with my hair lately and I decided my best bet is to go with a synthetic curly weave. I’ll get to why in just a moment, but leave give you a brief hair update.
I’m 6 weeks post and I really need to texlax already. No, I’m not underprocessed. It’s just the opposite. During my last texlax I ended up with bone straight roots. I used Mizani Regular, which is stronger than needed. I added extra oil, but I still ended up straight. So, what I’m seeing is actual growth.
Someone asked me if it was due to my hair reverting from sweating. Unfortunately no, a relaxer permanently alters the hair. So, my hair didn’t revert, it grew. I am not imagining this and I have actual growth. LOL!
I’m due for an actual length check next week, but I’ve decided to weave it up for the month of October. I want to do a curly sew-in because I think that will be best for all the running I do. Plus, I want to add a little color to my hair and this will be the best way for right now without damaging my hair. I guess it’s a double protective style. LOL! Sounds great to me!
I picked up my hair today. Since I’m leaving it in for such a short time, I’m going with the Freetress brand hair. Freetress is the least expensive curly weave hair sold at my local beauty supply store. There is no sense in investing in the good stuff just to have it in for a few mins. Plus, the curly hair will hide any frizz that happens due to this wonderful Florida humidity.
I purchase Jazz Water by Freetress. I love the way the curls look in the package and it reminds me of my natural curl pattern. If you would like to see the hair after I installed it, check out my Jazz Water post.
Do you have any fall hair plans? If so, what are they?
For the month of october for me, I will be wearing my half wig. I think it will be best for me and this stretch. I'm accidentally stretching anyways, so I gave my self a heat pass this week and will be wearing my hair out til thursday. Then I will have to implement my strike plan of hiding my hair til the new year ๐ keep growing girl. I did the oil mix as well and it made my hair sooooo very straight that I didnt see much growth til 6 weeks or so, but this time I have about an inch of growth now and I had flat ironed it. Keep up the good work ๐
Chelle, that's a great idea. That way you will have great retention. I know I'm trying to get all I can and prevent split ends.
I have no real plans: just want to see how much longer I can successfully stretch for. My hair is about 13 weeks post-relaxer.By the way, I nominated you for a blog award and I would be extremely honored if you would accept it http://thesizzlingmommy.com/2012/09/versatile-blo…
Thank you! I'm just trying to work on and grow my lil old blog. The longest stretch I've done is 17 weeks and I said never again. LOL.
Love this look and wouldn't mind trying it out. My BIGGEST fear is I would leave them in so long that my hair will get uncontrollable tangled. :-/XoxoLynn
The longest I've ever left hair of any kind in is 4 weeks. I start to miss my hair and get bored. So, tangling isn't a problem.
I really want to try "spring twist". They are similar to kinky twist but with different texture hair. Hoping I can find someone reasonable to do them since I can't try and rock Wash n'gos during Winter…LOL
I need to check youtube to see what those are and take a looksie.
