Y’all summer is here and in full swing. Unfortunately, my summer body is still under construction, so summer is about to get the body that I give it. LOL! That doesn’t matter to me because I’m still going to be cute and sport my summer glow, minus the sunburn.
I must confess that I slacked a little in the last few months when it came to skincare and my fitness routine. I’ve stayed on course as much as I could but you know it’s hard to stay on track when life seems to overwhelm you. For a bit, I kinda let myself go. I wasn’t happy and it showed. I walked into work one day dressed for an event and folks didn’t know who I was…imagine the shock that I actually look cute when I’m not wearing tights! * Where is the side-eye emoji when you need it? * I will admit that over the last several months, I’ve been rocking a bun and no makeup. Right! That was so unlike me. Mind you, I was still buying makeup…figure that one out!
Now your girl is back on track and happy as a mofo, personally. Like for real…never know how a simple move can make things all better. Now, I’m able to dig into all of my beauty products. Hell, I’ve even started a laser treatment to shrink my pores. I’ll tell you more about that later. It was a hot mess!
Anywho, with all of the products that I have, I still have a few that I tend to reach for and you know Olay has a few products that are in my lineup. Over the last month, I’ve put in work to get my body in order and that includes my skin.
The first thing I unpacked after my move! Had to have it!
I want to share some of my tips for getting summertime ready. So, here are five of my tips to keep your skin flawless for the summer. Yep! That was a mouthful.
Summer Skin Care Tips:
Drink Up! – I can’t say it enough, increase your water intake. Staying hydrated during the summer is more than just keeping your skin healthy. Girl, it’s to keep you from falling out while you are out and about trying to be cute. Heat exhaustion and dehydration will mess up your summer plans. Unless you want to be laid out and have your summer crush asking you are you okay, please make sure that you are drinking enough water while you are out in the heat.
Exfoliate – To prevent acne and buildup of skin cells, keep your pores clear and exfoliate on a regular basis. During the summer, your skin takes a beating. It has to deal with sweat, heat, makeup, and whatever elements you manage to get into. You don’t have to use the same type of exfoliator that you would use during the winter months. I find that my winter exfoliators are a little heavier because I have more dry patches.
Less Is More – Back away from the heavy full coverage foundations. If you can switch to lighter BB and CC creams. Or, you can mix a touch of your moisturizer in your favorite foundation to lighten it up a bit. There is nothing worse than a heavy foundation when it’s hot outside. Don’t even think about putting powder over a full face of makeup. Girl, you will end up being a cakey mess. I’m just saying! I don’t know about you but it makes my skin feel like it’s being suffocated. The worst feeling ever!!!
Lighten Up A Little – Along with less being more, the summer months are also time to use lighter cleansers. During the summer months, even us dry skin girls can tuck away our heavy moisturizing cleansers and use lighter, water-based, cleansers.
Protection Is Necessary – Sunscreen is needed year-round but definitely more during the summer months when we are out and about more.
I am notorious for forgetting to apply sunscreen. Summer just started and I’ve managed to get sunburned twice. Yes, twice!!! I was out for 10 minutes taking something off my windshield and just that quick, I ended up with a mild sunburn on my arms and feet. I totally wasn’t thinking when I headed out the door. I put sunscreen on my face but forgot about my arms and feet. Needless to say, aloe vera gel is bae right now.
Lately, I’ve been reaching for the Olay Whips with SPF 25. I love a good multi-tasking product and since I’m normally running late when I’m headed out, Olay Whips with SPF allows me to skip a step in the daily routine.
I have to say that I love the formula. It’s lighter than the Olay Regenerist moisturizer that I use during the winter. The Olay Whips line is just as awesome and is packed full of vitamins that leave my skin looking healthy and moisturized, without the shine. Also, the Olay Whips with SPF blends into my skin without leaving me with an odd gray or white case. It’s perfect for deeper tones too and doesn’t leave a sticky or oily feel either.
Girl, my new moisturizer is the business! Oh, I almost forgot about the sent. It smells amazing and has a light fragrance that disappears. So, if you are like me, it won’t send your allergies into a tizzy.
The next time you head to a major retailer that sells Olay, pick up one of the new Olay Luminous Whips with SPF 25.
Now, if I could just get better at applying SPF to the rest of my body, I will be in good shape! What summer skincare tips do you have to share? I want to hear about them, leave me a comment below.
Astounding tips. much obliged for sharing this tips for skin. Continue to share!!
Amazing tips. thanks for sharing this tips for skin. Keep sharing!!
Have not used it yet, but I will definitely try it after reading it.
SPF 25 is just what my skin needs. I have a sensitive skin so its hard for me to pick the right products and right brands for my skin. I do a lot of exploring all the time because my skin care routines tend to change. My skin just stops being used to a certain product and so I have to find another brand to use. I like that you also point out that proper hydration is important for the summer. Yes we do it for our thirsty mouths, but it is also important for our skin.
