The dry girl struggle is real. Most people think that the spring and summer months don’t bother those with dry skin. Oh, how I wish that were true! Actually, dry skin has issues year-round but if you have eczema like I do, it goes crazy during the spring and summer months.
If anything, I think my skin is worse during the summer. I have to do more to prevent getting my lobster on. So I have to fight dry skin and I have to prevent sunburn. Have you ever had sunburn with dry skin? OMG! It’s worse than childbirth!! Plus, there is nothing attractive about being extra bright and scaly. I love being out in the sun, but the sun does not love me! After a few hours of being out and about, I go from a cute mom to a hot lobster. Seriously!
Anywho, this time of year I start to change my morning skincare routine to ensure that I don’t have any issues. If you read my post over the weekend, you already know that my face has been a little flaky lately. So I’m doing extra steaming to help balance things back out.
If you have dry skin like me, let me tell you about my personal dry girl’s guide to skincare for warmer months. Well, it’s more like my morning skincare routine but you get my point. 🙂
I start my routine with a shower but I have learned to lower the temperature. I used to love super-hot showers but my skin doesn’t tolerate the heat well. After I’m finished, I moisturize with the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. I love this stuff because is fast absorbing and doesn’t leave me with a greasy feeling.
There is nothing worse than having a product that feels super heavy on the skin but this is lightweight and works well for me.
Next, I wash my face with the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser for dry to normal skin. If you are a normal-oily girl, there is an awesome CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser. I love the hydrating cleanser because my face feels so moisturized that I can almost skip a moisturizer. Speaking of moisturizers, there is a CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion that I am trying to get my hands on.
After my face is happy and I’m all moisturized, it’s time for me to get dressed for the day. I seriously love sundresses and tank tops. Don’t judge me but I will wear a sundress in the winter with a cover-up. LOL! As a matter of fact, the first time I ever remember being sunburned was after my husband, at the time, and I took the girls to an air show. Let me take you back, I had on a sundress that was denim at the top with a floral pattern at the bottom. Yes, we are talking way back in the 90s. Haha!
Because I’ve had that and many other experiences, I know I have to apply sunscreen before I head out for the day even if it’s just for a day of running errands and shopping. So before I head out, I make sure to apply the CeraVe Sunscreen Face Lotion with SPF 50. Here is another don’t judge me moment, I don’t only apply it to my face. I apply it to my arms too. *hangs head in shame* It has SPF 50, so I figure why not. I haven’t been burned, so it works for me.
Confession Time: I eyed CeraVe products for a while before I actually tried them and now I’m kicking myself for now doing it sooner. I seriously fell in love with the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream and the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser the first time I used them. It’s hard to impress me on the first try. But the Moisturizing Cream helped clear up an eczema flare in no time. For me, it’s the cat’s meow!
You can tell there was thought put into the products and there were dermatologists involved in the creation of each product. I’m so happy that they include ceramides in their products. The Moisturizing Cream and both of the cleansers contain ceramides. I wrote a post a while back about the benefits of ceramides for the skin and hair. I get super happy when I find products that contain ceramides because that means that I don’t have to mix in any of my oils to give them a boost. Also, check out how I get my skin ready for the fall.
Anywho, after I’m dressed and ready to go, I just throw on a little lip balm and go. Yes, it’s true that I don’t wear makeup every day. Most people ask for secrets about my skin. The secret is that I moisturize and cleanse with great products and I don’t wear makeup every day. Simple as that!
Before I forget, Walmart has a rollback on the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser, and the CervaVe Moisturizing Cream, and each item is currently $9.97. Plus, there is a $2 off coupon available for any CeraVe item. You can’t beat that at all!

I just recently tried CeraVe for the first time and really loved it! I needed something different for my skin in the warmer months, and this was perfect!

My skin gets the worst I think in August… it’s that weird time of the year where my skin is dealing with the dry Hawaii weather. I have only tried one product from CeraVe but I really have my eyes on a lot. I use Cetaphil for my cleanser because my eczema really can’t do well with much and my skin care regimen includes so many expensive products that if CeraVe will satisfy and do as they do – I’ll be happy to try it. I’m gonna go check them out and see if I can try a few things. 🙂

I LOVE CeraVe products. I started using them about 5 years ago when I started to experience some rosacea based on the recommendations of several dermatologists. They’ve added so much to the line since then. Thanks for sharing!
