An important part of my hair care journey is keeping track of what products and techniques I used for the week. It allows me to determine what works best for my hair and make necessary changes. Today, I’m sharing this week’s hair update and the products.
Updated To Add: My hair has grown past hip length and keeping an online journal has helped. Check out recent length check. If you like, you can search the term length check and you will able to see my journey. You can also find my most recent posts on my weekly updates by searching wash day or selecting wash day under the category tab.
Each night this week included a scalp massage with the massager I purchased a few months ago from Sally’s. That was the best $1.70 I spent in a long time. I luvs that thing!!!
2/5: I used Dabur Amla Intensive Treatment mixed with Avocado, extra Amla powder, my Ayurveda oil mix, Wheatgerm Oil, and EVOO to pre-poo my hair. Then I washed from scalp to tip using Aubrey’s Organic Honeysuckle Rose (AOHSR) shampoo and my shikakai bar. Normally, I only shampoo my scalp and allow the shampoo runoff to cleanse my ends, but I decided to shampoo all of my hair since I was using a sulfate free shampoo. The shikakai bar helped the AOHSR lather up more but the shampoo left my hair feeling rough. The bar softened it up some. I do not like the AOHSR shampoo. I will stick to the AOHSR conditioner. If you are looking for a sulfate free shampoo, you might want to try it. However, it was a miss for me.
Anywho, I detangled in the shower using my V05 Strawberry Moisture Milk. Next, I Deep Conditioned (DC’d) with AOHSR conditioner mixed with Hemp Oil and EVOO…this seems to be my go-to conditioning mix. I steamed for 20 mins and covered my hair with a plastic shower cap overnight. Okay, see what had happened was…I had a late start so I had the plastic cap on almost all day. My hair didn’t feel as soft as it normally does and I have to assume the extra time under the shower cap did not help.
2/8: I steamed for 20 mins while doing a hot oil treatment (HOT). I mixed red palm oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, hemp oil, homemade amla oil, and brahmi oil. I put my plastic cap on and left the oil in my hair until I went to class on 2/9
2/9: I co-washed with V05 tea therapy (to get the extra oil out). Then I used V05 Moisture Milk to detangle. Last, I used Nature’s Gate Henna Shine Enhancing Conditioner for extra conditioning. I sprayed my new moisture mix: AOHSR, rose water, wave nouveau mist, hemp oil, EVOO, sunflower oil, safflower oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, and Surge leave in (the last bit of that). My hair was soooo soft and silky? The only new thing was the Nature’s Gate.
After class, I applied my sulfur mix and baggied.
2/10: I didn’t do too much other than sprayed my moisturizing mix and threw on a plastic cap. Tis all!
I am so thankful for those who sent products to me. They have helped a lot because I wouldn’t be able to try new things without their help. I was finally able to pick up some hibiscus this week and a couple of other super cheap V05 products. My priority has been taking care of my girls but it’s nice to be able to pamper my hair a bit. There are so many products I still want to try. * sigh *
I do take donations!!! No shame! LOL!
