Wash Day: Bringing Protein Back!

Instead of “bringing sexy back,” I’m bringing protein back. I realized a few days ago that I have fallen off when it comes to my protein usage. I have protein-sensitive hair and I do not use it as much as most people.

I do use products that contain protein closer to the bottom of the ingredients list. I do this just to make sure the protein is not the major ingredient in the product. So, it has just enough protein to strengthen but not enough to damage my hair. Cherrelle is just so complicated! I wish she was normal porosity and she didn’t have special needs. Ugh! What do you do?

It seems that I totally abandoned protein and henna for a period and I can’t honestly say why it happened. All I know, it is time for me to get back to my normal regimen. I normally have a moisture only wash day two times per month. The other two wash days are alternate between protein and henna.

What caused this reality check? Last week, I had some major breakage. I did not moisturized and seal the entire week…lazy. I figured that was the cause of the breakage and I decided to work to restore my moisture levels.

When I stepped back to create a plan, I realized I had been slacking on protein too. So, I decided to focus on protein this week to make sure that did not have a hand in my breakage.

After this week, I am getting back to my normal schedule because I am on a mission to grow my hair back to my hip by the first of the year. I don’t play that long damaged hair stuff. No ma’am! I will have long healthy hair as usual. It’s time for me to tighten up and act right.

Now, let’s get down to my wash day. It was simple and easy.

Protein Sensitive Hair Wash Day CrecePelo Products

I went with the Crece Pelo line. This is a Dominican product brand and it is cheaper if you purchase the full Crece Pelo set on Amazon.

Pre-poo – Jessicurl Daily Deep Treatment with heat for 20 mins and without overnight. I didn’t feel like rinsing it out. * shrugs *

Shampoo–  Washed twice with Crece Pelo Shampoo to remove oil

Condition–  Conditioned with Crece Pelo Treatment for 15 mins under a plastic cap

Rinse–  Applied Crece Pelo Rinse for 5 mins

Leave-in – Finished up with Crece Pelo Leave-In. I used this as my heat protector for blow-drying.

When using this product line I absolutely follow the directions on the package for Crece Pelo products. I do not mix anything in or change the time you are supposed to leave the product on before rinsing. I just don’t play with this brand…it scurs me.

Anywho, I am in the process of flat ironing my hair for a length check and trim. We shall see how that goes because I am 17 weeks post and this stuff is THICK! Someone send wine!

Side note: My hair feels so light and fluffy. Plus, the CrecePelo makes its smell so nice. I love it.

My hair is protein sensitive too and coming from the warmer weather (meaning more cowashes and less protein) you reminded me I need to step my protein up in my regime again.

I hear you. I think part of why I feel off was not living in FL now and not having as many cowashes. I’m glad my exp got you thinking. That’s what I’m here for… hehe
