September is the best month of the year and for good reason. Why? It’s my birthday month! Hey!!! As a way to celebrate, I spend the month trying new things, reflecting, and setting goals. My birthday month is the perfect time for me to try new products that have been on my radar…my favorite stores offer incentives for me to purchase items during the entire month of September and you know I have to take advantage of the savings.
Aside from shopping like a madwoman, this year I wanted to get out and socialize more. I am notorious for belonging to groups and forums and just lurking. I’m that creepy chick hiding in the bushes just watching. LOL!
Anywho, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to join up with the ladies of The Beauty Council and step outside of my comfort zone. So, twice a month the ladies and I will bring you reviews, favorites, fun challenges, and whatever we can think up. Today is our official first challenge and we are giving you our favorite VMA celebrity-inspired looks.
My fave was Kylie Jenner. Now, if you are wondering why I picked a Jenner/Kardashian for my celebrity-inspired look, the reason is quite simple. I love the three N’s: neutral, natural, and nudes. Kylie’s look is very natural and matte and it is a departure from the overdone look that has been trending for the last couple of years. Simply, her look is more my speed and it is perfect for any age group. The makeup is very easy to recreate, does not take much time, and is very beginner-friendly.
What did I use?
Eyes: I Heart Matte palette by Wet n Wild, Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara, and L.A. Colors Liquid Eyeliner
Lips: Rimmel Lasting Finish in 104, Gerard Cosmetic’s Lip Gloss in Cocoa Bean, and Elf Translucent Powder to mattify the gloss.
