Years ago when I started my hair journey, I gave up on using regular towels to dry my hair and I started with microfiber towels. However, the length of my hair quickly outgrew the size of the towel, and finding microfiber towels in the size I need, proved to be very difficult. Recently, I heard about the SKO Hair Towel and I thought the concept was interesting. I wanted to check the towel out and share my thoughts with you.
According to the site, the SKO towel reduces breakage by allowing the smooth (non-damaging) side to be placed against the hair and having water pass through to the absorbent microfiber side. In short, you place the side that resembles satin, with the gorgeous gold and white pattern, against your hair. The water then passes through to be absorbed by the microfiber that is away from the hair. The key to using this towel is not leaving it on too long…which I’ve been known to sleep with my Curly Tee on all night. Don’t judge me.
The difference between using this towel and microfiber is the design minimizes breakage because the microfiber side of this towel never touches your hair. When you see the towel, you instinctively want to put the microfiber side against your hair and the satin side on the outside. Once you have the towel in place, placing the loops on the ends around the button is not an issue. That is the easiest part of the process.
That brings me to the issue I have with the towel. The directions and the correct way to use the towel are unclear on the package. I had to actually go to the site and check out the FAQs section to find the directions.
I truly wish the packaging had diagrams for the visual folks like me. I think I’m fairly intelligent, but I had to read the directions twice because the first time left me saying, “Huh? I’m confused!”
My other issue with the towel is size. The size is perfect if your hair is about Armpit Length or shorter; however, if you have seriously long hair (like me), you need to be ready for a fight to break out between you and the towel.
Of course, you know I had to get creative with making the towel fit my hair; otherwise, I like the product. I love that I don’t feel any snagging when I have my hair up and I don’t think about it quite so much. You can find the SKO towel on the site for $37.

Not a fan of using tee shirts to dry my hair. They still snag my hair. I did some research on the Sko and I think I’ll give it a try. $39 + free shipping is a small price to pay for a towel that will not snag my delicate hair. Plus, it’s not like you’re buying it over and over! You spend $39 once!

Enjoy! The owner sent me an update that she did change the packaging to include clearer instructions, per my suggestion. It’s always good when a brand listens to feedback and follows up. She even sent a sticker of the new instructions for me to see what she did with the packaging.
