January Hair Length Check…In February

Please excuse me for my tardiness. I took my length check pictures in January; however, the finished product was keeping me from posting. I wanted to include my trim pictures with my length check. My rationale was for you to see where I ended 2013 and where I was beginning 2014. It’s still the same, but it just took me a little longer to trim my ends than planned. 🙂

Now, I know you are wondering why would it take so long just to trim my ends. Well, I do not use shears after my last mishap and setback that happened when I placed a pair of shears in my hand. I have been banned from using them by my friends that are hairstylists. Check out the picture below and you will see what happened…no more shears for me.

How exactly are you trimming your ends? Glad you asked! I am the proud owner of a Split-Ender. If you have been following for a while, you know I love that thing because even I can’t mess up a trim. (No, I am not being paid…IJS) Anywho, it only takes 1/8″ to 1/4″ off at a time. That is not enough to even notice that anything was trimmed but the ends are healthy and straight. Works for me!

The downside to using the Split-ender is having to make three passes on one section of hair. Plus, each section has to be less than 1″ thick for it to trim properly. The instructions combined with the thickness and length of my hair means this process can take up to 2-2.5 hours. Not to mention the one I have is on its last leg, so I cannot move as fast. I have gotten my money’s worth for sure because it is at least three or four years old and it has been beaten to death.

Anywho, I do love the Split-Ender but I wish I could trim my ends with one pass. That would make the process a lot faster, but I can’t complain given what I have done to myself in the past.

Enough of that…now here are the pictures! I ended the year just below Hip Length. I am trying to use the same outfit for my length checks. The top of the shorts is the top of my hip. I had not realized how much length I gained from October to December.

*I tried to get the pics as close as possible and it looks like my shorts rose up just a touch on the left side. Sorry about that but you get the idea. 🙂

I know I mentioned evening out my hemline to a blunt cut, but I realized that Cherrelle (my hair) doesn’t want to cooperate. I am tired of fighting with her. I say blunt cut and she says “V”. I guess she won…for now. I think I will cut the hemline after I reach full Hip Length. I am hoping that will be by the summer. I have a new growth aide that I am using combined with my scalp massages and supplements. I believe with everything I am doing, it is entirely possible for me to reach full Hip Length by June.
