Braidout vs Straight Hair: Showing Length Over Low Manipulation Styling

January 28, 2012 By Tiki 1 Comment

I haven’t worn a braidout in years and it used to be my daily style. My daughter told me my braidout for last night looked more like my natural curls than a style. Then I realized why I haven’t rocked a braidout lately. My vanity got the best of me and I realized that I don’t like how short it makes my hair look. Yep, shameful I know. It looks gorgeous and I must agree that it looked like my natural curls but it seemed so short.

Hair up and half down Braidout on texlaxed hair Ladies, am I the only one that has an all or nothing attitude when it comes to styling? I would rather wear my hair in a cute bun or flat ironed than to have it appear short than it is in a braidout or wash n go.

ETA: My hair has since grown out and my braidout still shrink to shoulder length. Click here to see pictures of my braidout at hip length.

Sidenote: Speaking of buns, I bought some (affiliate)  invisible hair nets from Sally’s tonight. They are super thin and I can’t wait to give them a try. I will post a pic when I try to use them out.

Anywho, my personal vanity does not mix well with wearing a braidout. I want my length to be seen, call me shallow. I spent a lot of time, money, and overall effort growing my Cherrelle (my hair) out and I want the product of my hair work to be seen. I don’t want folks looking at Cherrelle crazy. She is a diva and she likes to show it! What? Too much? IJS

I must get a new camera or phone. I hate the iphone!!!

Have you purchased anything new lately for your hair?

Do you prefer to show all of your length? Or, do you where a braidout?
