The only drama I like is in a beauty look and that’s what I’m serving today… a dramatic blue smoky eye look. I’m getting glammed up with Black|Up cosmetics! I think this look is perfect for a date night or a night out with the girls. Now you know this post comes with a crazy story, right? Get ready!
We all know I’m an odd duck and I’m perfectly okay with my eccentric ways. Well, I have to admit one of my quirks is that I tend to wear my foundation a shade or two darker than my actual color. Think of it as a tan in a bottle. What? We’ve already established that I’m Casper’s little cousin who happens to have yellow undertones. Don’t judge me!
My coloring makes finding a foundation in my perfect shade almost impossible. There has only been one brand that I can purchase and I don’t have to mix it to make my perfect shade. Even buying foundation a tad darker seems to be difficult. I’ve seen brands made with “Women Of Color” in mind and their lightest color is still too dark for me. Dude, seriously…stop playing!
Anyway, I’ve seen so many awesome reviews of Black|Up cosmetics and I wondered if they made shades in my color. Honestly, I never looked because I didn’t want to get my feelings hurt. Y’all know I’m sensitive and stuff. LOL Now imagine when The Beauty Council ladies were chatting about Black|Up cosmetics and I found out they not only make shades in my color but some in lighter shades. So they have my summer and winter shades covered. Woo hoo! Shimmy with me!
When I received my package, I was like a kid in a candy store! My only problem was figuring out what looks to try. I have to admit I tried a few and I was even going to try a beauty dare that the ladies were discussing. I despise the color green…like majorly! I still give my youngest daughter the side-eye when she mentions her favorite color and football team…green and the Steelers. She totally got her love of both from her father. Sorry, I digress.
Out of all the looks I tried, I kept going back to this blue smoky eye. Someone sent me a pic of a blue smoky eye with a hint of orange and it screamed “try me!” For some strange reason, blue eye shadow speaks to me. I tried the look a couple of ways but I like how this version turned out.
The other funny story is why my eyes are red. I’m not sure how noticeable it is or not but I sorta kinda poked myself in the eyes with tweezers trying to apply my lashes. Yes, I poked both eyes. I swear false lashes and contouring are going to be the death of me. OMG! I want to give up on perfecting both but everything requires a little effort, practice, and patience. You know it’s a struggle when you start praying and having a conversation with God before you start working on something. SMH! Yeah, it’s that serious. Ugh!
Enough about me and my craziness…stop by and visit the other Beauty Council ladies to see what looks they shared. Did I forget to mention Black|Up Cosmetics is offering our readers 20% off their products from 2/12 until 2/28? Use the code LOVE15

I had never heard of Black Up before but today I’m seeing it on several blogs. I love the look on you. You have beautifully shaped eyes.
Thank you!
Gorgeous look!! That smoky eye look phenomenal on you.

LOL! I warned you before I started it was going to be crazy. haha
I LOVE it! And you know I think I’ll just snatch your brows off and glue them on me like a lace front wig…LMAO!!! Seriously the makeup looks flawless and I hadn’t thought about using blush with a bit of clear gloss. That color is so pretty! Now come and do mine! #please and #thankyou <3
LOL! You are so crazy! I keep telling you when you come back this way, I gotcha. However, I really need to come your way…sadly, it’s just for food.
This post is hilarious. This is why I can’t use tweezers whilst applying lashes. I can, but I don’t do it often. Love the brows and smoky eye.
I already can’t see! Poking myself in the eye is definitely not helping my vision problems. lol Tweezers are dangerous. haha
Smokin’ sexy smoky eyes! Gorgeous as ever
Thanks Kath!
I am so inspired to try this eyeshadow combination. I am so scared of going too dark since last time I tried I ended up looking like Black Swan-ish. You look gorgeous and I think I need that lip shade. Great post!
You and Anastasia have me cracking up. The lip color is actually the Black|Up blush with a touch of clear gloss
Talk about fierce!! I wish i could pull off eye makeup like that, instead I end up looking like a panda. Love your brows, too, they’re perfect!
Not a panda! LOL Thank you!
