Years ago, I gave up making resolutions as the New Year rolls around. Instead, I set goals for the year. Last year, my goal was to overcome my fear of driving and get back out there. I was able to reach that goal and I’m zipping around like I never had an accident…well, almost. I’m still afraid to drive in the rain. LOL!
For 2018, I have four goals: blog consistently, date more and find someone special, grow my hair to classic length, and finally lose all of my weight. Honestly, the easiest way to get my hair to classic length is to lose weight…less booty to cover. LOL!
Anywho, I want to share with you my personal fitness goals for 2018. What I hope to accomplish is so much more than just losing weight, but that is where I will start.
- Weight Loss – I won’t say how much weight I would like to lose in total, but my goal for 2018 is to lose 50lbs. I know it can be done, but I have to get focused and get serious. Plus, one of my girlfriends is getting married in Hawaii next January and I intend on wearing a two piece with no cover-up.
- Run, Girl! Run! – If you’ve been around here for a bit, you know that I love running. Unfortunately, 2017 was a crazy year and I seriously slacked off on hitting the pavement. Running for me is super relaxing and it allows me to clear my head. I would love to finally run a half marathon, but I’m going to be realistic by just trying to get back to where I was before I stopped running.
- Tone It Up – I seriously miss lifting weights. I know it sounds crazy but I started weight training when I was in high school. I was the only girl in the weight room and I really didn’t care. My legs were fabulous! So, in addition to running, I’m going to hit the gym and get my body all the way snatched. I don’t mind being thick as long as I’m solid.
- Let’s Get Cute – I know this may sound strange but I want to change my workout gear a bit. I’m guilty of wearing super big shirts and black tights to work out. I typically don’t wear anything colorful because there is a lot going on with all of these hips and thighs. However, in the last few months, I’ve started to wear tights most days. Yep, I’ve become one of those people. LOL! But seriously, just because I’m fluffy doesn’t mean that I can’t look cute while I’m at the gym. I do want to get to the point where I can stroll into the gym with a sports bra over a cute crop top without my tummy looking all bloated. Back in the day, I was bold enough to roll up in the gym with colorful pants with words printed across my behind. I was extra grown. LOL!
- Hydration Is Key – I’ve seriously been slacking on my water intake and I realize how essential drinking water is for overall health. Water is also essential for reaching your fitness goals. I’m trying to decrease my amount of caffeine and increase my water intake. I’m not quitting coffee…honestly, I can’t function in the morning without it. I’m just going to cut back on the amount of coffee that I drink daily. *Pray for me! This is going to be rough*
Overall, I think my goals are realistic and attainable. Right now, I’m losing weight by default because I still haven’t healed from having surgery on my throat. My biggest challenge is staying focused and not getting overwhelmed. I’m sure there are some things that I haven’t thought of and will add later. For right now, I’m going to stroll over to the other lovely ladies that I’m collaborating with to see what their goals are for 2018.
Be sure to stop by the blogs listed below to see what personal fitness goals my blogging boos are sharing. I’m sure you will come up with a few ideas to get you started on your own personal goals. If you have some sets already, please share them with me below.
Exercise and diet goes a long way. And a little help from workout supplements helps too.
thank you for sharing this, since 2018 is almost over,. one of my goals for 2019 is to fully commit to my gym membership really gaining weight and already way out of shape
You can do it! The key is to go even when all you want to do is curl up on the sofa. I’m definitely seeing changes in my body composition.
I love your goals, and I have a few of the same ones for 2018! My first priority though is to get some cute workout clothes to help motivate me.
Thank you! I thought everyone would think that I was crazy for wanting to look cute at the gym. lol
Girl, yes… tone and run are my thangs too. But you definitely have realistic goals and I can see us accomplishing them. We will work together and we can do it. I know that with a bunch of girlies supporting one another, we can make it happen. I’m struggling to find any cute workout clothes. Where are you finding yours? I love it.
Yes, having support is a must for success. I actually bought some tights from a store call Rainbow but they are not true workout tights. I need to find some new places.
Loving your goals. Saw Fabzilla’s post just now and all the best to both of you <3
Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂
These are great goals to have for 2018! Your hydration goal is so important!
Thank you! Yes, my body does not take kindly to being dehydrated. lol
Looks like you have a good plan going and made attainable goals.
Awesome! I’m hoping that you reach all of your goals!
I wish you a lot of success in achieving all your goals! I think they’re definitely attainable if you stay focused.
Oh and the cute fitness clothes, yes you definitely need that! I would not go to the gym as often if I didn’t have fun and colorful workout clothes, I know that for a fact!
Thank you! Yes, I really need to stop going looking all dull and boring.
Great goals and I’m hoping that it’s all comes easy for you. At my Weight Watchers meeting tonight someone there had lost 50 pounds since November 1st. It is so encouraging to hear that happen even if I haven’t lost that much in almost the same time. Perseverance is important.
50lbs since November? Wow! That is so awesome…plenty of willpower.
I’m so glad to read that you love running too! I’ve been running since graduating from college, and my dissertation was on exercise addiction, a positive addiction IMHO. I’ve slacked off since the fall for the first time in decades, and I’ve gotta get back to my routine. Hopefully, we’ll all reach our goals this year! Go girl
I think exercise addition is a plus too. There was a time when I went to the gym twice a day. I would do cardio in the am and lift weights in the pm. Running is sooo relaxing to me.
Yes!!!! I love your goal of being cute, there’s no reason why we can’t when we’re fluffy, especially at the gym. I have found that it is motivating and more comfortable to wear more form-fitting apparel to run and work out because there’s not the extra material flapping around! Lol I love your hydration goal as well. I need to be better about this, it definitely hits a nerve for me!
Yes, loose clothes tend to ride up and they drive me batty.
I enjoyed reading your post. No doubt you’re going to achieve these goals. and yes, looking cute while exercising is my jam too. I would be cheering for you and I am looking forward to that swimsuit bod wihtout cover up!
Thank you so much! I’m so ready to get my normal gym style back!
I LOVE than you were the only girl in HS in the weight room! I wanted that to be me but the coach was a jerk and did not make it easy for girls to join which made me end up not doing it. I wish i started weight lifting sooner! And yes — get some new workout clothes! It’s fun, it’s motivating and I also have a goal of being able to wear some booty shorts to my gym, lol. I alreayd bought them — just working up the courage to wear them! hahah
Yeah, I was a tomboy, so I fit right in. lol I’m sure you are closer to wearing your booty shorts than I am my two piece. 🙂
