I was battling with bringing the health back to my nails for months after removing my gel nails. I’ve tried treatments and vitamins without success, even biotin didn’t work this time. I started to become discouraged and felt like I did permanent damage to my nails. I swore off gel nails and said I would only use gel polishes in the future. Yes, my nails were that bad. They were soft and you could look at them and a nail would break.

I’ve had, Formula 1 and Formula 2, Probelle Touch N’ Grow Nail Hardeners for a while before I was finally able to give them a try. I was testing another treatment and when the hardeners first came in. When that was over I gave Formula 2 with Garlic and Lime a try. I decided to use that version because I had some discoloration from nail polish staining. I am guilty of not always using a base coat. Don’t judge me! LOL!
Anywho, here are the deets!
What They Say:

I loved the idea of being able to harden and brighten my nails at the same time. Of course, I was skeptical because of my recent experiences with other products. I decided to give this product a try for TWO months instead of my usual month time frame.

Ingredients:
ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, nitrocellulose, propyl acetate, tosylamide / formaldehyde resin , isopropyl alcohol, triphenyl phosphate , trimethyl pentanyl diisobutyrate , stearalkonium bentonite , ethyl tosylamide , camphor, diacetone alcohol, stearalkonium hectorite, benzophenone – 1, citric acid, dimethicone formaldehyde, water, allium sativum bulb extract, citrus medica limonum fruit extract.
What I Say:
I noticed my nails started to harden with taking Viviscal vitamins (more about that next time) but they still had some softness that was bothering me. So, I wanted to put Probelle Touch N’ Grow to the test to see if it would finally get me back to my original state. I was shocked as all get out. I noticed within three weeks my nails were back to normal. I thought I was imagining things but it was true. I finally had healthy nails again.
The funny part was I did not follow the exact directions on the package. You are supposed to use the hardener daily for “several days” and I only used it twice per week for the first few weeks. After that point, I moved to use the product once a week. I can only imagine what the results would have been had I used it daily for the first week or so; however, I can’t complain about my results.

Now, I will say I didn’t notice any lightening of my nail color. According to the directions, you are supposed to use the product as a base coat but it just dawned on me the other day that maybe I should have applied my normal base coat…the one I use when I remember. I still have some polish discoloration and I noticed the last color I used stained my thumb nail. So, I am disappointed that it did not lighten my nails.
However, I will take healthy stained nails any day over the soft damaged hot mess I have been working with for months. I am very funny about the products I recommend but this is a definite must-have if you have damaged nails or are in the market for a nail hardener.
You can find Probelle Touch N’ Grow Nail Hardener Formula 1 and Formula 2 on the Probelle site for $14. I will also add a little goes a long way. I’ve been using the product for two months and you can see how much product I have left in the bottle.
