I’ve been on the fence about continuing to post wash day in the future; however, I realized there are more people who come to visit the site for the weekly texlaxed wash day posts than any other topic. I know people like to see what products I use, techniques, and hairstyles I try each week. So I decided to add wash day posts back to my weekly content.
I think the biggest thing I noticed is the number of people who are curious about my stretch and how I’ve managed to stretch my texlaxer for 14 months. Shoot! I’m trying to figure out how I made it this long without losing my mind. LOL!
I stated in my July hair update that I’m going to stretch to September using twists and wigs. I think I can hang in there for two more months. LOL! All jokes aside, I do have my system down for stretching. Now that I figured out my future plans, I had to stop cutting chunks out of the front and back of my hair to check my curl pattern. My focus for the remainder of the year is growing those sections back, maintaining healthy hair, and making it to Tailbone Length by December.
Enough of my chatting…let’s get into this week’s wash day.
FYI…My phone hates me! It just won’t let me be great!
I kept things super simple. I’m still washing my hair in braids to minimize tangling and breakage.
Detangle – My hair was still semi-straight from my length check, so I added a little sunflower oil and detangled it with my large seamless comb.
Pre-poo– I decided to kill two birds with one stone. I was having a little itching and I’ve been using my Pura D’or Shampoo lately to fight the itches. I decided to use my Shea Moisture Purification Masque. I needed to add a little moisture, clarify, and get my scalp together. I applied the masque and left it on overnight.
Shampoo – I used the Pura D’or Shampoo. My scalp stopped itching after the masque, but I just wanted to make sure I didn’t have any issues. I forgot to grab my color applicator bottle to dilute the shampoo, so I have to fight with the shampoo a bit to work it through my hair.
Conditioner – I thought I was going to straighten my hair again because of that, I used the Pura D’or conditioner to add a little protein.
Deep Conditioner – I skip DCing this week because the Purification Masque left my hair feeling awesome.
Leave-ins – Motions Nourish Leave-In Conditioner, Sienna Naturals Baobab Oil Moisturizing Leave-in Conditioner, and Herbal Essences Split End Protector.
At the last minute, I decided to leave my braids in and go with a braid out for the week.
Styling Products -Design Essentials Natural Curl Enhancing Mousse, Design Essentials Natural Honey CurlForming Custard, and Almond Oil.
I used Afroveda Hemp Seed Lock, Twist & Roll to take my braids down and give my hair that extra shine. Yes, I’m still using the same container from years ago. I’m sure I should’ve thrown it out but it still looks, smells, and works great. I won’t give it up until it’s gone and trust me when I say, I will order more.
