Top 10 Cleansers and Conditioners For Swimming

“Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming” is one of my favorite lines from Finding Nemo. Not only are these words catchy and life changing, but they are survival instructions against the summer heat. I know the weather here in Florida warrants a weekly trip to the beach for this gal. In my previous post (Top 10 Hair Care Tips For Swimmers), I delivered the 411 on maintaining fabulous hair while having all the water fun that your heart desires. I felt that it would only be proper to also provide you with some nifty product recommendations. So, let’s dive right into the Top 10 Cleansers and Conditioners For Swimmers, shall we?

This list is comprised of affordable products that can be found at your local WalMart, Target, Health Food Stores, and Drug Stores. Included are clarifying cleansers, conditioners, and leave-in conditioners. All are vital to maintaining healthy hair especially if you’re a swimmer. Here’s a quick breakdown.

• Clarifying Shampoos

To start, products 1-4 of the graphic are Clarifying Shampoos. Their job is to cleanse your hair by removing any chlorine or salt buildup.  This will also protect blonde or color treated hair from fading or turning green.

• Moisturizing Conditioners

Next, products 5-7 of the graphic are Moisturizing Conditioners. The purpose of a conditioner is to restore balance and moisture, ease detangling, and strengthen your hair.

• Leave-In Conditioners

Finally, products 8-10 of the graphic are Leave-In Conditioners. These conditioners are meant to stay on your hair to attract moisture. This will help to create healthy hair that is strong and flexible.

All 10 of these product recommendations are sure to replenish your hair after taking a summer dip. You should definitely give them a try if you’re not sure about which products to purchase. I guarantee that you’ll have well-moisturized and healthy strands. So, enjoy the water this summer and just keep swimming!

Independently Yours,

Cherese Signature

I have been learning to swim everyday for a month and now the entire middle of my hair has broken off. What would be the top leave In conditioner to use on relaxed hair before going swimming to avoid chlorine penetrating the hair?

Hey Jahmela JT! Kudos to you on learning to swim and sorry to hear about the breakage. If you’re looking for a leave-in, then I would recommend one of my fav’s #8 Kinky Curly Knot Today… It’s pretty a-mazing. But really #’s 8-10 of the list are all awesome leave-ins for relaxed or natural hair.

Jahmela JT, another great conditioner for relaxed or texlaxed hair that I use before swimming is Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose. I’ve also used Suave Almond and Shea Butter Conditioner. Learning to swim in so on my to do list! Congrats!
