There is nothing like a smokey eye. I love smokey eyes from the office to a night out with the girls. The Studio Gear Smokey Eye palette was created to cover any diva from day to night. Studio Gear sent the palette for me to review and create my smokey eye combinations.
According to Studio Gear, the palette was designed to create the perfect smokey eye with a hint of golden shimmer. The eye shadows are used to create several day-to-night looks that are “seductive and wearable.”
The Smokey Eye Palette is listed on the Studio Gear site for $25.
The palette was originally released as a limited edition Studio Gear Holiday Palette. However, it was quickly given a home in the standard line. Being that this palette started in the holiday collection and because the description says so, you can assume correctly that it is a shimmer palette. Each color including the black eye shadow and blush is a shimmer color. The colors are rather pretty when you see them in the palette.
The top half of the Studio Gear Smokey Eye Palette packaging includes an eye look that you can try or create your own.
My thoughts:
My first few uses of this palette left me a bit bummed. When I applied Frost, it was a bit splotchy and I had to pack on the color to build it up. I played with it a bit and found the perfect primer and base combination to make the shadow a bit more pigmented. In the end, it worked out but if you don’t have the proper base you will be a bit frustrated. I can’t say that I would buy this for myself. However, I would purchase it for my daughters or a beginner. It won’t give them too much color that will leave them looking clownish or like a…
You can see my attempt to use the palette for a dramatic night out smokey eye. I did try again after I recorded this video with more base and it went on with more pigmentation. I will say it does perform better if you want a softer smokey eye without as much eye shadow base.
