Wash Day! Trying Something New

I think I might end up on an episode of “Hoarders.” No, I am serious! It would be the hair products samples edition. It was no secret that my full-size product stash was crazy. Yes, I said, “Was” because I finally started purging my stash. I used some and gave away others. The sad part is I will not run out of products for my hair wash day anytime soon.

I honestly had no idea how many samples I had until the other day when my Dove Oxygen Moisture Shampoo and conditioner samples arrived. OK soooo…what had happened was. I went to add the samples to what I call my “sample bag.” I grabbed the bag and realized that the sucker was stuffed like a Christmas stocking. That’s when I realized it was time to use some of my samples, throw them away, and give them away or something.

You always hear that the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. OK…Hi, I’m Tiki and I have way too many product samples.

something new hair wash day hair product sample in a pile

Do you see the full sample pack that I BOUGHT from As I Am? I totally forgot I purchased the pack. I knew I had a full-size jar I never used but how the hell did I forget about the samples? Ugh! I had to roll my eyes at myself for that foolishness.

I decided to try something new and start using my samples and post about them on Sundays. Should I call it “Sampling Sunday?” I will not be able to give you a full review but I can share my first impression of each sample.

Anywho, enough of my rambling. Let’s get to my hair wash day.

Applied grapeseed oil to pre-poo and I finger detangled each of my four sections after applying the oil. Pre-poo for 30 mins or so without heat. I was eating and lost track of time. I threw on my bonnet dryer for 20 mins and finished up my pre-poo.

hair wash day with Dove Oxygen Moisture shampoo and conditioner

I used Dove Oxygen Moisture shampoo on my scalp and allowed the runoff to cleanse my length.

Conditioned in the shower with Dove Oxygen Moisture Conditioner. I did detangle after applying the conditioner because I had a little tangling at my roots from lazily shampooing.

hair wash day deep conditioner Jessicurl and hemp oil

Air-dried for 10 minutes before applying Jessicurl Deep Conditioning Treatment topped with Hemp oil. I was still feeling a little lazy and didn’t want to mix it in a bowl. Anywho, I hopped back under my bonnet dryer for 30 minutes and rinsed.

hair wash day leave ins

After air-drying for 20 minutes, I applied leave-ins: Aphogee’s Provitamin, Giovanni Direct, and Agadir Argan Oil.

hair wash day air drying hair in bands

I stretched my roots with bands and continued to air dry overnight. Today, I am flat ironing for my Hairfinity length check. The results from that will be up tomorrow.

Overall, it was a decent hair wash day. The only issues I experienced was the tangling at my roots and a few broken strand from combing. I quickly realized I was being a little too rough and eased up a bit…problem solved.

I’ve been doing it but never posted a pic before. I normally just put the pic before I put the rest of the bands on and I just have four ponytails. LOL Don’t ask me why.

Dang! You ratted me out…not Intervention too? sigh LOL! It looks so much better these days but it was out of control for a bit. I used to have a Diva Den with enough room for all of my goodies. Yes, they had their own room. LOL

    Hi Tiki!
First, let me say that I love the name of your blog!
I have used Aphogee products before and they always yielded great results for me. I am going to have to try Argan Oil.
Thanks for sharing your wash day experience! I will have to try the hemp oil too!

Thank you! I love Argan Oil. I have the treatment and pure argan oil. I love both and it’s super light. Hemp oil is my boo and a must have for me. Tell me how you like them if you decide to give either a try.

I know what products I like, so I don’t know why I keep getting those sample packs. Here’s to making up a box for my cousins.
