It looks like I’m chugging along to my birthday weight loss goal. Just in case you missed it, my goal was to lose 15lbs by my birthday. With just four days left, I hit my goal. Minus the Chicago Style popcorn binge. I realized that my one true weakness is popcorn. Sure I like chocolate but popcorn is my guilty pleasure. I receive a big bag in the mail and it kept calling me. I’m human and I couldn’t say no. Sigh! I didn’t beating myself up about it because I got right back on track. I’m 15.2 lbs down and I reached my mini goal.
I decided to break my weight loss up into mini-goals, so I don’t feel overwhelmed with having to lose 50lbs. I noticed that I would get in a slump and fall off the wagon. Having mini goals is working so much better for me. I bought new running pants and said I wouldn’t wear them until I got 5lbs away from my birthday goal. So that made me push harder and it worked. Yay!
My issue with eating has always been not eating enough and I finally developed a plan that gives me the calories I need without making me feel like I’m eating too much. In the morning on non-run days, I have a green smoothie. On run mornings, I have a cup of Carbmaster yogurt topped with walnuts and chia seeds within an hour of running. That is my way of making sure I get in protein after my run without eating anything heavy. Lunch is a protein shake or a turkey burger…nothing major. Dinner is usually salmon or chicken breast with a salad or broccoli. If you know me, you know I can literally eat the same thing every dang day and be absolutely OK with it.
I also upped my supplements. I’m still taking the SLIMQUICK and it’s still helping with the water weight and appetite suppression. I did notice that on the day I use the flavor packets, I have to take them earlier in the day. I was staying up later than I needed, but the good thing is they do give you energy without making you jittery. If I know I’m going to eat late, I take the pills instead. I was told to only take one product in a 24 hour period but some days I do have to take the pills instead of using the powder, so I make sure I’m not up too late. I added MSM back in to help with my joints and I got back on the ball with my vitamins. I take a multivitamin, Potassium, Vitamin C, Vitamin D (I don’t get out in the sun much), and an Omega 3-6-9 pill.
I’m still running, but I stepped that up too. I’m pushing harder and going longer distances. I want to get my running back to where it was with the time and distance. On the days I don’t run, I started doing yoga again. I noticed I was having issues with tension and stiffness while running and sure enough, adding yoga back to my fitness plan was a big help. My body feels good again while running.
I didn’t make it out to this month’s hike with my running group and with the seasons changing, I have a feeling that was the last one until spring. We shall see!
How is your weight loss journey going? If you would like me to post my green smoothie recipe, let me know and I will be sure to get it up for you.

That is such a great idea to break it up into goals! I’m on dietbet.com right now and reached my goal the first month but slacked off the last two months. I’m trying to get back with it this month and try to lose the next 5-7 pounds… if the Dr. Pepper will stop calling me! LOL
