I am so thankful that birthdays only come one time a year. My body couldn’t handle this happening more than once. I will admit. The 30something-year-old turn-up is completely different than the 21-year-old turn-up. Lawd! I don’t think I could survive the 21-year-old turn-up again. I’ll tell you all about that foolishness another day. Paramedics were involved.
Anywho, my birthdays these days are bit more mature and laid back. I love a good dinner and just relaxing. I know…boring, right? LOL! Seriously, my priorities are different now and my mind is in a different place. This year, I just wanted my favorite food and snack along with some much-needed sleep.
If you know me, you know my weakness is popcorn. But not just any popcorn, I loooovveee the Chicago Style G.H. Cretors popcorn. Seriously, a normal size bag doesn’t last beyond a day. I recently received a huge bag and it almost didn’t make it. I swear to you the popcorn was calling my name. I sent a picture to a friend of mine that moved here from Chicago and she texted me back, “The Chicago popcorn is soo good!” Yes, I must agree. The best part was the three other flavors in my box o’corn.
G.H. Cretors released three holiday limited edition flavors. *whimpers at the deliciousness* My inner fat girl was begging to try it but I resisted the temptation. I was determined to lose my 15 lbs by my birthday and trust me, the struggle was real!!! Needless to say, come September 28th at 12:06, it was on and popping! *pun intended* hehe
I didn’t do too much damage because I knew I wanted to enjoy my Cinnamon Raisin Bread French Toast–guilt-free. *sigh* After sleeping in a bit, I woke up and thoroughly enjoy my french toast. I chatted with my daughters a bit and the oldest whined because she wasn’t at home to enjoy my usual birthday dinner.
Every year since I was in Junior High, my mother made the same meal and she only made it for my birthday. My mother treated my birthday like it was a national holiday, complete with no school. Seriously, I only went to school on one birthday and that was in high school. I had to because my birthday twin, Lala, and her big mouth decided to call our local radio station to announce our birthdays. Man! They beat my behind with the birthday licks! lol, What? Don’t act like you don’t know about birthday licks!! At this age if someone tried it, I’m so old they might beat me to death. LOL!
Anywho, back to the meal. I asked my daughter to guess what I was cooking and she immediately said what it was. Then proceeded to tell me how she wish she knew how to cook it because she’s been craving it lately. Oops! I just wish my mom was still alive to cook it because it never tastes the same when I make it…you know how that goes.
After a little harassment from my not so little babies and my boo, I put my feet up, enjoyed my favorite adult beverage, popped open the Orchard Apple Caramel G.H. Cretors popcorn, and watched a little TV. Yep, it was super eventful. LOL! Oh! I forgot that I bullied a “Happy Birthday” from the UPS guy. LOL, He came to deliver the second half of my birthday present. I’m beginning to think he has a little crush on me, but I’m not sure. I’m the worst when it comes to men flirting with me. My professor had to tell me my boo was flirting with me. I thought she was wrong, but the whole class chimed in. Apparently, I was the only person who missed the memo. Ugh! Maybe one day, I will take him seriously and he will move from boo to beau. Naw!
Anywho, I’ll show you my birthday goodies later this week. You know it was makeup!!! The way to my heart is through Sephora and Ulta. hehe
What is your favorite birthday treat?
