MANICure Monday: It’s Bright In Here!

Happy Monday Divas! It’s time to get the week started with MANICure Monday. I hope the weekend was good to you and you are ready for an awesome week. I am claiming joy, happiness, and good health.

Manicure Monday

I decided to go with something bright for this week, a fabulous neon green polish. There will be no turning down of the color for me! It’s bright in here for sure!  The color for this week caught my eye and I had to give it a try. I figured for $1, why not? I found the polish at my local beauty supply store (BSS) while shopping for a moisturizer for my hair. Yep, I got side-tracked. LOL!

My intent for the week was to try the purple polish by L.A. Colors that I mentioned last week. I still want to see how L.A. Colors’ polish performs with a base coat. However, I wanted something I was feeling for this week instead so I went with today’s color.

The brand is Santee and the color is Neon Green. The thing I don’t like about the inexpensive brands is they are not 4 free. I had one polish that ate through the styrofoam plate I was using for nail art. No Bueno!

Now, this week I’m also trying a base coat by NK that I also picked up at the BSS for $1. Sadly, I somehow managed to split my thumbnail and I need to fix that before it gets worse. I think I can use my mending polish to fix it for right now. If not, I will have to use a teabag to repair the nail. I really need to give myself a full manicure because my skin and cuticles are dry.

Overall thoughts about the Santee polish

I love the color; however, the final color for me doesn’t match the color in the bottle. I applied three coats and it is still too sheer. I hoped by the third coat I would have the opaqueness I was after, but it did not happen. Having used three coats, it did change the color for me. I was a touch disappointed but not upset about this polish. After all, I only paid a dollar for the polish. I can’t expect it to perform the same as the more expensive brands.

Oh I hate when you have to use a white basecoat to make a polish color pop. All those polishes should come with a disclaimer…LOL! But it’s a cool color!

I know right! I think I just need to automatically put that in the plan for the $1 brands. You Autism Speaks mani is cute. I saw it earlier and forgot to comment. LOL

Totally went bright this past weekend, too with with a neon hot pink. The green looks awesome though and if you have a white base coat, you could try that to combat the sheerness, because the pink I used was pretty sheer and the white totally helped to make it less sheer underneath 🙂

I thought about that but I have no idea where my white polish ran off to. I had a polish accident so some of my polishes are MIA. LOL
