Kids aren’t the only sneaky little creatures…I have a few tricks up my sleeve to get in quality time with my daughters. Now that my girls are older and everyone is busy with school, work, and hanging with friends, we don’t get to spend the time together like we did when they were younger. I miss the days of constant snuggling and kisses. Seriously, the time went by super-fast!
Sometimes, I feel like I have to introduce them to each other because they are like complete strangers. When they were young, they were besties, now it seems they have gone in different directions with different sets of friends. Both of my girls are polar opposites, and by the time they made it to high school, people didn’t even realize that they were sisters. *face palm* Anywho, when I want to get the three of us under one roof, I have to try some sneak tactics to wrangle my daughters for snuggles and quality time.
Here’s how I manage to wrangle my daughters now that they are young adults.
For my youngest, I can wrangle her with a home-cooked meal but one of her favorite things is Jacks aka Hand Pies. Her favorite is sweet potato…since I’m out, I’m going to lure her in with my freshly cooked, just for her, Apple Jacks. These are super simple to make, so that gives me more time to sneak in a few kisses and hugs.
The oldest is a baby diva and loves makeup. If I say I’m purging makeup or I have extra samples, she is like a little kid peeking around a corner. She loves makeup like little kids love candy and cookies. LOL! Hmm…I wonder where she gets that from? I have no idea. hehe
Now, with my youngest…not so much. She is more like me when I was her age, so she is a softball-playing tomboy. We both gave up on volleyball for the same reason, a blow to the head. Nope, that does work for either of us. Sadly, she dislikes makeup to the point that she even gives lip gloss the side-eye. Yes, she is really my child. I promise that the stork didn’t drop her off.
Well, the one thing that I can grab both of them with (don’t judge them) is cartoons. They have three movies that are classic kids’ movies and they will still watch them like they just hit DVD. Like how many times can a person watch a lost fish or a car wash run by sharks and fish? Like at what point are they too old to watch these types of movies? I think I need a glass of grapes just thinking about how many years and how many times I’ve seen their favorite movies. There is one that’s missing and I’m not sure which one of the girls grabbed it but the two I have will work.
I have their blankets freshly washed and pillows ready. Yes, they actually have their own little movie blankets. I’m hoping the oldest doesn’t use me as her pillow. Can you imagine my 5’6″ daughter laying on me like I’m a life-sized pillow? Spoiled much? Can you imagine all of us snuggled up on the sofa together? Yes, it’s quite funny to see and my youngest has a habit of sniffing her blanket. It’s a weird thing but that’s what she does…bless her heart.
I’ve always guessed that she does it to remember the moment and I make sure her blanket is fresh out of the dryer. She loves the smell of the Snuggle® Ultra Blue Sparkle fabric conditioner and blue iris bliss® Snuggle Scent Boosters. Funny enough, my neighbors love it too because everyone can smell it when I’m doing laundry. Anywho, I make sure that I use both products according to the label because I don’t want to overdo it. The scent lasts for a good bit and it makes everything super soft.
If you stop by Sam’s this month, they have $2 off both products in the March Instant Savings Book. Don’t forget to go online and join the Snuggle Bear Den. It’s a free site that allows you to set up an account to receive rewards on your favorite Snuggle® products. You know I’m all for saving money.
What are some creative ways you wrangle your children for a little quality time?

It sure is great having daughters! We love hanging out and watching movies and sports together at my house. Snuggle is perfect for washing the blankets in our media room.

How wonderful actually that your daughters are different from each other. Gives you two different experiences with them!

One thing my mother could always do to get me on the couch and under a blanket was turn on My Little Pony- I could watch that for hours- that or Care Bears. Heck, I’m an adult today and I still want to curl up on the couch with a blanket and hot cocoa when I catch them on! #client

I know what you mean! My oldest is going to be 17 and my youngest is 7 months, then 3 other boys in between – having the baby reminded me what it was like when mom was their world and they just wanted to be with me. I miss those days!
