How many of you beauties hate cleaning your makeup brushes? Me too! When I ran across Tasha from Belleza Kisses’ Color Switch by Vera Mona Instagram post, I was intrigued. OK…I squealed a bit and immediately inboxed her on Facebook for details. She posted a quick video showing how fast and easy you can clean your makeup brushes using the Color Switch. I think I heard angels singing!
Let’s be honest, I’ve developed a serious brush addiction spawned solely from my disdain for cleaning my brushes. I turn into a big baby when it’s brush cleaning time. I have brush cleaning sprays, but they take too long to dry when I’m in a hurry. It’s just easier to buy more brushes and pout on wash day.
In the beginning, I was notorious for wiping brushes on the back of my hands and using baby wipes to get them clean in order to move to the next color. OK…OK! So, I still did it until my Color Switch by Vera Mona arrived. Don’t judge me! I’ll say it again, it’s so much easier to just buy more brushes and not worry about it…pure laziness!
Well, I don’t have to worry about that any longer. Let me get to the details! Y’all know I get all excited and ramble when I really like something.
The Vera Mona Color switch allows you to quickly change between eyeshadow colors in just a few seconds. Actually, the sponge will work with any powder product. You simply run your brush back and forth over the sponge to remove the product. Don’t let the look of the sponge intimidate you…it’s softer than it looks. The texture of the sponge allows it to get down in the brush hairs.
The thing I love the most is not having any water or liquids involved in the process, and I don’t have to wait for anything to dry. Just wipe and move it right along. Seriously, check out my demo at the end of the post.
Vera Mona has three versions of the Color Switch on their site: the Solo ($16.99), the Duo ($19.99), and the Proband ($34.99). I have the Solo and the Duo, but I would love to have the Proband. The Proband would come in super handy while I’m working on clients. I also found all three versions of (Affiliate Link) the Color Switch on Amazon.
Anywho, the Duo has a small white sponge in the center for you to add water and apply shadows wet for foiled looks. You simply dab your brush in the white center to moisten and dip into your shadow of choice. I love that I don’t have to spray my brushes to moisten them because I have been known to spray everything around me. In case you are wondering, there is a little metal container that holds the white sponge to keep it from getting the cleaning sponge wet. Yep, Vera Mona thought the design through and I appreciate the effort.
Now, I know you are asking about keeping the sponge clean. You have three options, flip the sponge over and use the other side, wash it with a mild soap, or replace it with a refill pack ($7.99) found on the site. I hate to tell y’all this but the directions say to replace the white center sponge on the Duo after each use. I completely missed that part and I’ve reused it without any issues. I did a quick clean, sprayed a little 90% alcohol, and let it air dry. Oops!
Overall, I love my Color Switches and they have truly made my makeup process easier. Plus, I’m not going through as many brushes. Trust me, my makeup desk normally looks like a hurricane hit it by the time I’m finished putting on my face for the day. Seriously, it’s brushes everywhere! Now I don’t have to use as many, and I’m definitely not pouting and whining as much on wash day.
I’m going to put this in the must-have category. Have you tried the Color Switch by Vera Mona? Do you think you will check it out?
