Google Ads get me into trouble every time! Have you ever been on a site and just had to try something you saw in an ad? Well, that happened to me with Pura D’or ads on my site. I kept seeing them almost daily and I wanted to find out more about the brand. Well, Pura D’or launched a campaign with Brandbacker that allowed me to receive the Organic Argan Oil Hair Loss Prevention Shampoo, Organic Argan Oil Conditioner, and the pure and organic Argan Oil.
I received a bottle of Pura D’or Argan Oil a while back; I love mixing it with my moisturizer and adding it in my pre-poo mixes for my hair. I was pretty excited to try the shampoo and conditioner from the line. I know some may wonder why did I want to try shampoo for hair loss prevention. I figured it would help speed up my growth rate, and I was trying to grow back the length I cut off earlier this year.
According to the site, the Pura D’or Shampoo is unique because it contains 12 DHT Blockers that prevent hair loss and thicken the hair. I can’t say if it made my hair thicker because it’s already super thick. However, I did regain my length. *Kanye shrugs* What I liked most about the shampoo was that was totally unexpected, it’s great for dry scalp! Seriously, I had a super itchy scalp the first time I tried the shampoo and I noticed by the time my hair finished air drying my scalp felt great. I thought it was a fluke but after using the shampoo a few more times when my scalp was itching, I realized it was definitely the shampoo helping my scalp. Normally, I have to do a few things to treat my scalp to get relief but not with this shampoo.
I decided to test it against my Head & Shoulder shampoo and it worked better. I will tell you it does have a medicinal scent. I do wish the fragrance was a little different, but I can deal with it.
My other issue with the shampoo, besides the scent, is the way my hair felt after I shampooed and before I conditioned. It didn’t feel stripped but it felt like there was something coating my hair. I didn’t have a moisturized feeling that I prefer after I shampoo my hair. I did realize due to the lack of moisture and the formulation, I needed to place the shampoo in a color applicator bottle with a touch of water to make it a tad easier to work with.
The Pura D’or Argan Oil Conditioner is Sulfate, Paraben, and Gluten-free. The scent of the conditioner is lavender vanilla, and I didn’t have an issue with the scent. Like the shampoo, the conditioner is not a heavily moisturizing conditioner. I will say it is more of a light protein-based conditioner. Don’t get me wrong, my hair felt good after I used the conditioner and I actually like the product. However, I used it when I needed a protein boost and I followed it with a moisturizing deep conditioner. When I used the conditioner my hair felt stronger without feeling stiff, as though I had protein overload. I think it’s a well-balanced product that works well for folks like me that have protein-sensitive hair.
The stand-out in the set was already a favorite of mine and that was the Pura D’or Pure Argan Oil. As I stated, I love using the oil with my moisturizer. Funny enough, I use this on my face the same way I do with my hair. I seal my facial moisturizer in the same way I do with my hair products. Adding the oil after the moisturizer holds the product in and allows the product to absorb better. The Pura D’or Argan Oil is super light and it doesn’t leave your hair with a weighed down feeling or your skin feeling coated. A little of the oil goes a long way and I’ve been using the same bottle of oil for over a year now!
Overall, I like the shampoo for relieving my dry scalp. The conditioner is better suited for a light protein conditioner and it’s great for my protein-sensitive divas. The star of the Pura D’or brand hands down is Argan Oil.

Love pura d’or argan oil. It’s so potent, you only need a drop or two for your face and it gets absorbed instantly no greasy feel!
I wear it to the gym when swimming so that my skin has a moisture barrier to the chlorine!
I always look for extra moisture in my haircare!

You’re welcome! I like to talk about everything including scents, so if anyone buys the product they won’t be shocked one way or the other. lol
I am very reactive to strong smells so this would be a huge minus for me. But it sounds like it worked for you despite that.

If you are scent sensitive, I would not suggest it at all. 🙁
I have these products too, and I like them. Other women have mentioned an odd smell with the shampoo but I haven’t smelled that. But my shampoo had a broken pump so I don’t use it as much as others till I find I new bottle to put it in. I like the vanilla lavender scent of the conditioner.

Yeah, the shampoo does have a strong smell but it doesn’t last. If you have an extra color bottle hanging around you can try that too
My hair is professionally colored so no color bottle hanging around. I literally forgot about it, and I just recycled the bottle for my favorite shampoo, Briogeo Be Gentle Be Kind! Clearly, I wasn’t thinking
