Oh, how I was not looking forward to this wash day. I have not detangled my hair in three and a half weeks. Yes, you read that right. I have not touched a comb since I braided my hair to wear under my wig earlier this month. In case you are wondering why I changed the braids into a braid out on my last wash day. Can you imagine the fun I had detangling post braidout? Someone pass me a glass of wine because I was traumatized. No, I am just kidding. LOL!

As much as I dreaded this detangling session, it was not as bad as I thought it would be and it turned out to be pretty easy. The trick was to work in small sections and to finger detangle each section before using the comb.
My products this week were from the same product line. I’ve had the L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm in my stash forever and I finally used it a few wash days ago. However, I received the L’Oreal Total Repair Extreme Reconstructing Shampoo and Conditioner in my first, and last, Allure Sample Society box. I figured I would put them together and give it a try.
Detangle: On dry hair with no product
Pre-Poo: Cover my hair using L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm from my roots to my ends with more attention on the ends and length. I covered my hair with two plastic shower caps and let it sit for three hours while I did chores.
Shampoo: Worked L’Oreal Total Repair Extreme Reconstructing Shampoo from my scalp down to my length, skipping my ends. I focused more on my scalp.
Condition: I applied L’Oreal Total Repair Extreme Reconstructing Conditioner and left it on while I showered. I rinsed it off and towel-dried my hair. I left the towel on for 30 mins before applying my leave-ins.
Leave-ins: Sprayed Aphogee Pro-Vitamin Leave-In on my hair from root to ends. Next, I applied Crece Pelo to my hair and seal with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. After I finished, I detangled again and combed through the products.
I put my hair up in two ponytails to let it air dry. I plan on doing Bantu knots this week for my heat-free style. I was amazed how easy detangling post braidout turned out to be for me. Normally, I have to beat my hair into submission. I can’t believe that I am a weeks post.
How did your wash day go? How do you detangle after you are ready to take down a braidout?

Beautiful curls. Love the volume. The lipstick is a great color for you. Tell me why your eyebrows are flawless?

LOL! My daughters give me grief over my brows and ask me how to do theirs. That is the longest part of my makeup session b/c I like for them to look groomed but natural.

I detangle with oil after braidouts, it makes everything much easier. With all that hair you have how long does it take you to finger detangle? And that braid out was everything!
Grow It Girl says
It really doesn’t take long…by my standards. LOL I say less than one hour but it did take longer than normal without oil. Thank you! I tried a new product for it and I was happy with how the braidout looked.
